Why "PC" doesn't need a different tool
A YouTube to MP4 converter that runs in the browser works the same way on every desktop operating system, because the browser — not Windows or macOS — is doing the work. There's nothing Windows-specific or Mac-specific to install, and no admin password to type in.
What you actually need on a Windows PC or Mac:
- A current browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari all run this fine.
- The YouTube link, copied from the address bar or the Share button.
- Somewhere to put the file — your browser's Downloads folder, which already exists.
Converting it, step by step
- Copy the video's URL from YouTube.
- Paste it into the box above and pick a resolution, up to 2160p (4K) if the video has it.
- Press Convert to MP4. This usually takes 20–60 seconds — longer for a long video or a 4K one — and the tab needs to stay open while it works.
- The download starts on its own once the file is ready. Your browser decides where it lands, which is almost always your default Downloads folder.
Nothing is installed in any of this. When the tab closes, nothing is left running in the background.
Finding the file afterward
| Where | Windows 11 / 10 | macOS |
|---|---|---|
| File manager | File Explorer → Downloads in the left sidebar | Finder → Downloads in the sidebar |
| Quick access | Taskbar search → type "Downloads" | Launchpad → Downloads stack in the Dock |
| In the browser | Click the download icon or press Ctrl+J (Chrome/Edge) | Click the download icon or press ⌘+Shift+J (Chrome) / ⌥+⌘+L (Safari) |
If you've changed your browser's default save location, or it's set to "ask every time," the file goes wherever you pick in that prompt instead.
If Windows or your browser flags the download
This is browser and OS behavior around any file it hasn't seen you download before — it isn't specific to this site:
- Browser download bar warning ("This file isn't commonly downloaded" or similar): click the arrow next to it and choose Keep or Keep anyway.
- Windows SmartScreen blocking a file: this applies to executables far more than MP4 video files, but if you see it, it's a Windows-level check, not something this site controls.
- macOS Gatekeeper: also mainly affects apps, not media files like MP4.
The file itself comes straight from this site's own servers — there's no separate installer bundled with it.
Same conversion, every device
The PC experience is the same engine behind this YouTube to MP4 converter — it doesn't re-encode the video (see YouTube to MP4 without quality loss), it just runs through a desktop browser instead of a phone one. If you're on a phone or tablet instead, the same link and the same "paste → pick quality → download" steps work there too.
Limits
Videos up to 60 minutes can be converted. Private, members-only, age-restricted and live videos can't. Only download videos you own, have permission to use, or that are licensed for reuse.
